Hi there!! My name is Faith Rucker from Kindergarten Faith. I am so excited to be guest blogging this year with Charity Preston on The Organized Classroom Blog. I hope I will be able to share some helpful and beneficial classroom ideas with you over the next few months. In my classroom I try to “Make it Real!” So…..lets get started!!
How many times during the day do you have to remind your little kiddos to write their name on their paper? After spending 5 years in a 6th grade classroom and now starting my 5th year in a Kindergarten classroom, I realize it is still the same……some of them forget!! So now, instead of saying over and over, “Remember, write your name on your paper,” I sing a little song!
This song gives them a physical, kinesthetic, and auditory reminder to write their name. And best of all, they sing with me. My kids love it! We also add in a little game. If they can get their name on their paper before I finish the song, they get to put a jewel in our jewel jar. If we fill our “Good Behavior Choices” jewel jar, then we get an extra recess!! It is a win, win for everyone!!
Have a great year!! Visit my blog, Kindergarten Faith, for more exciting classroom ideas.
