16 Students

  • Named so because of the block formations, the teams are not as condensed as the Four Square, so the students will not be as cohesive in this seating chart.  It is good for a change of pace in the classroom.

    Classroom Seating Chart: Big O

  • This is a different way of setting the desks up, but it also gives a new way of seeing the classroom.  Very untraditional, but students may like the novelty of the arrangement.

    Classroom Seating Chart: Right Angles

    Classroom Seating Chart: Obtuse

  • This is a typical grouping of desks into teams of 4. This setup works best when teams work together in cooperative learning activities or in competition with one team against another. Incorporating team-building activities into your curriculum is necessary in order for the students to “buy-in” to a team that may not necessarily consist of friends.

    Classroom Seating Chart: Four Square

  • This seating chart is set up almost like a box, but with wider spaces between the desks.  This allows for a lot of movement  from the teacher to travel and make sure the students are understanding the concepts throughout the lesson.

    Classroom Seating Chart: The Labyrinth

  • In the Pinwheel, students will be facing many different directions.  For seat work or centers, this is a wonderful option.  During direct instruction of whole group, a separate space in the classroom (i.e. teaching from the carpet) will be necessary.

  • Shaped like a pair of glasses, this seating arrangements veers from the traditional straight lines you often see in the majority of classrooms.  This seating arrangement allows for intimate book discussions or thought-provoking math revelations.
