  • Zig zags formations are the center of this class seating chart.  This would work best for individual student center work as the students would be able to work independently, while also allowing for freedom of movement throughout the classroom.

  • Three groups of two desks each are the focus of this seating chart example.  The groups them become teams in which to collaborate and work together.   This arrangement is not useful if you do a lot of independent style work as the students ill all be facing one another.

  • This seating chart example has small groups of four to six students sitting in various directions, but still adjacent to one another for cooperative learning activities to occur.

  • Students are in two long groups, but are staggered for less talking than in traditional pod formations.  They will face one another, but have access to many different students for interaction and collaboration.

  • Straight parallel lines are the look of this desk arrangement.  Two lines of students that face one another are perfect for friendly debates during class.

  • This seating chart is a good example of a style that would work well with a performance class or debate panel.  The panel would sit in the arc, while the spectators could face them and offer discussion at the end.

  • Wavy lines are the look of this seating chart.  While it is similar to traditional straight lines of desks, it offers a bit of novelty by shifting the desks to one way or another.  Lecture-style instruction would work nicely with this example since the desks are all facing one general direction.

  • One large square shape with a couple of back row seats completes this example.  This would be great for public speaking presentations where the students would have to present in the middle of the square.  Another idea would be an opportunity for open discussion so that the students would be able to face one another for proper discussion etiquette.
