Hi everyone! Seems like I haven’t posted a video in FOREVER! So, here is a super short and simple one – only 4 minutes long! I have to make sure I give props to the Tot Treasures blog as that is where the pin I saw on Pinterest (of course) originated from. I just added in the part with the Pattern Cards adapting it to how I might use the same idea in a classroom. Anyway – hope you enjoy and make sure to grab your free download as well!

I love this idea! This could be adapted for a small group building activity where you could instruct students to use a certain number of sticks to create a shape, and add parameters to make the activity more challenging.
As a preschool teacher, I thought that the velcro sticks would be a good base for my matching cards. I have matching games for math and reading. For the number 6, for example, students would have to choose the card that has 6 pennies and the card that has 6 tally marks, and match them up. My reading cards include rhyming words, sight words with matching beginning letters, and c-v-c words with matching ending letters. If they’re using the sticks, then I could check on their progress with multiple numbers at any point in the game until they are finished, freeing me to monitor other activities at the same time.
Great additions Kathy! Thanks for sharing!
I have an “Optional Math” bin for fast finishers who complete their Math Daily 3. This could be a choice there. They share pictures with me of work the do that is not something to hand in. Thank you for the freebie! Love this idea!
Love it Jennifer!
