Hi there!! My name is Faith Rucker from Kindergarten Faith. I am so excited to be guest blogging this year with Charity Preston on The Organized Classroom Blog. I hope I will be able to share some helpful and beneficial classroom ideas with you over the next few months. In my classroom I try to “Make it Real!” So…..lets get started!! 🙂
How many times during the day do you have to remind your little kiddos to write their name on their paper? After spending 5 years in a 6th grade classroom and now starting my 5th year in a Kindergarten classroom, I realize it is still the same……some of them forget!! 🙂 So now, instead of saying over and over, “Remember, write your name on your paper,” I sing a little song!
This song gives them a physical, kinesthetic, and auditory reminder to write their name. And best of all, they sing with me. My kids love it! We also add in a little game. If they can get their name on their paper before I finish the song, they get to put a jewel in our jewel jar. If we fill our “Good Behavior Choices” jewel jar, then we get an extra recess!! It is a win, win for everyone!!
Have a great year!! Visit my blog, Kindergarten Faith, for more exciting classroom ideas.
